Kekaguman adalah emosi yang sebanding dengan ketakjuban[1] tetapi lebih terasa kurang menggembirakan. Dalam roda emosi Robert Plutchik[2] kekaguman dimodelkan sebagai kombinasi antara keterkejutan dan ketakutan.
Salah satu definisi dalam kamus adalah "perasaan yang luar biasa dari penghormatan, kekaguman, ketakutan, dll, yang dihasilkan oleh apa yang agung, luhur, sangat kuat, atau sejenisnya: kagum pada Tuhan; kagum pada tokoh-tokoh politik besar."[3] Definisi kamus lain adalah "campuran emosi penghormatan, rasa hormat, ketakutan, dan keajaiban yang diilhami oleh otoritas, kejeniusan, keindahan besar, keagungan, atau kekuatan...."[4]
