Dioecious berasal dari (Greek: διοικία "berumah dua"; bentuk kata sifat: dioecious)
Tanaman Diocious
Sekitar 6 % dari spesies angiospermae merupakan diocious dan sekitar 7% dari genera angiospermae merupakan spesies diocious [4] Contoh spesies tanaman dioecious meliputi ginkgo, willow, cannabis dan African teak.
Dioecious terdapat di berbagai keluarga tumbuhan. Namun lebih umum pada tanaman kayu [5] dan spesies Heterotrof.[6] Ganggang tertentu bersifat dioecious. [7]
