Temasek Holdings adalah sebuah perusahaan investasi Pemerintah Singapura.

Sejarah

Pada awal tahun 1960-an, pemerintah Singapura mengambil saham beberapa perusahaan lokal, dalam sektor seperti produksi dan pembuatan kapal. Sebelum pembentuk Temasek Holdings pada 1974, saham tersebut dipegang oleh Departemen Keuangan. Departemen Keuangan adalah pemegang saham tunggal dari Temasek Holding sekarang ini.

Selain Temasek, pemerintah Singapura juga memiliki lengan investasi lainnya, Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), yang fungsi utamanya berinvestasi cadangan mata uang asing pemerintah.

Ho Ching ditunjuk sebagai direktur eksekutif dari Temasek Holdings pada 2002. Ia merupakan istri dari Lee Hsien Loong, Perdana Menteri Singapura sejak 2004. Pada 6 Februari 2009, Temasek mengumumkan bahwa Chip Goodyear, bekas CEO BHP Billiton akan menggantikan Ho Ching dengan menjabat sebagai Penjabat CEO mulai Maret 2009 hingga Ho Ching resmi mundur pada 1 Oktober 2009.

Investasi

Pada 2004, Temasek memiliki banyak saham di banyak perusahaan besar Singapura, seperti SingTel, DBS, Singapore Airlines, PSA International, SMRT Corporation, Singapore Power dan Neptune Orient Lines. Temasek juga memegang investasi dalam ikon masyarakat seperti Hotel Raffles dan Singapore Zoological Gardens. Dia juga memegang saham dalam Singapore Pools, perusahaan judi resmi satu-satunya di Singapura. Pada 4 Oktober 2004 dia mengumumkan penutupan markas besar operasional dari Singapore Technologies dan mentransfer asetnya ke Temasek Holdings.

Sekitar setengah dari asetnya berada di luar Singapura dan ini termasuk saham di perusahaan telekomunikasi seperti Telekom Malaysia. Dia juga memiliki saham di beberapa institusi finansial asing seperti Bank Danamon di Indonesia dan NIB Bank di Pakistan. Temasek-linked companies (TLC) juga memegang portofolio global yang luas, seperti kepemilikan SingTel terhadap perusahaan telekomunikasi Australia Optus.
