Pertempuran Taranto terjadi pada malam 11–12 November 1940 saat Perang Dunia Kedua antara pasukan angkatan laut Inggris, dibawah pimpinan Laksamana Andrew Cunningham, dan pasukan angkatan laut Italia, dibawah pimpinan Laksamana Inigo Campioni. Angkatan Laut Kerajaan Inggris melincurkan serangan angkatan laut all-aircraft ship-to-ship pertama dalam sejarah

Asal muasal

Lama sebelum Perang Dunia Pertama, Skuadron Pertama Regia Marina Italia berpangkal di Taranto, sebuah kota pelabuhan di pesisir tenggara Italia.
