Kasugamaru (春日丸) adalah sebuah kapal induk kawal yang dimiliki oleh Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang. Kasugamaru aslinya merupakan kapal pesiar yang dibuat pada tahun 1940. Ia merupakan kapal ketiga dari kelas Nitta Maru.
Pada pertengahan tahun 1941, Kasugamaru diambil alih oleh IJN dan dimulai proses konversinya menjadi kapal induk escort (auxiliary carrier). Ia selesai dikonversi menjadi kapal induk dan kemudian berganti nama menjadi Taiyou.
Taiyou (大鷹) memiliki arti "Great Hawk". Diantara saudaranya yang lain, ia merupakan kapal pertama yang dikonversi menjadi kapal induk sehingga ia merupakan kapal pertama dari kelasnya (Taiyou-class). Ia mampu membawa 27 pesawat. Kecepatan maksimumnya sekitar 21 knot.
