Ioudaios (bahasa Yunani: Ἰουδαῖος; pl. Ἰουδαῖοι Ioudaioi)[1] adalah sebuah etnonim Yunani yang digunakan dalam sastra biblikal dan klasik yang umumnya diterjemahkan menjadi "Yahudi" atau "Yedua".[2][3] Dalam berbagai pengartiannya, kara tersebut juga diterjemahkan sebagai "orang Yedua", "orang dari wilayah Yudea" (Yunani: Ἰουδαία)[1] dan "pemimpin Yudea".[4]
Pilihan terjemahan tersebut menjadi subyek debat sarjana berkelanjutan, memberikan pengaruh utamanya pada firman-firman dalam Alkitab (baik dalam Alkitab Ibrani maupun Perjanjian Baru) serta karya-karya penulis lainnya seperti Josephus dan Philo. Menerjemahkan kata tersebut menjadi Yahudi dipandang mengartikannya sebagai kepercayaan agama dari orang tersebut, sementara menerjemahkan kata tersebut menjadi Yudea menyatakan identitasnya berada di perbatasan geopolitik Yudea.[5]
Debut terjemahan terkait merujuk kepada istilah ἰουδαΐζειν (kata kerja),[6] yang secara literal diterjemahkan sebagai Yudaisasi,[7] dan Ἰουδαϊσμός (kata benda), yang secara kontroversial diterjemahkan sebagai Yudaisme atau Yudeanisme.[8]
