Pantherinae adalah subfamili dalam famili Felidae; dinamakan dan pertama kali dijelaskan oleh Reginald Innes Pocock pada 1917 yang hanya memasukkan spesies-spesies Panthera.^[2] Pantherinae terdivergensi secara genetis dari nenek moyang bersama antara 9,32 hingga 4,47 juta tahun silam dan 10,67 hingga 3,76 juta tahun silam.^[3]^[4]

Taksonomi

Pocock menyebutkan dua genus yaitu Panthera dan Neofelis termasuk ke dalam subfamili ini. Diantaranya:

Genus Panthera
- Harimau (P. tigris)
- Singa (P. leo)
- Jaguar (P. onca)
- Macan tutul (P. pardus)
- Macan tutul salju (P. uncia)
- †Harimau longdan (Panthera zdanskyi)
Genus Neofelis
- Macan dahan (N. nebulosa)
- Macan dahan kalimantan (N. diardi)
