Tim nasional sepak bola Kenya merupakan sebuah tim nasional sepak bola yang prestasinya mencapai babak pertama Piala Afrika pada tahun 1972, 1988, 1990, 1992, 2004 dan berada di bawah Federasi Sepak Bola Kenya. Tim ini belum pernah tampil di ajang Piala Dunia.
Sejarah
Kenya telah tampil di enam turnamen edisi Piala Afrika dan tidak pernah mencapai babak putaran kedua. Mereka ikut serta dalam babak Kualifikasi Piala Dunia FIFA pertamanya di tahun 1974. Pada tahun 2018 mereka tidak lolos ke babak putaran final.
Penangguhan FIFA dan larangan internasional
FIFA menangguhkan Kenya dari semua kegiatan/kompetisi sepak bola selama tiga bulan pada tahun 2004, itu diakibatkan campur tangan pemerintah dalam kegiatan sepak bola. Larangan itu dibatalkan setelah negara itu setuju untuk membuat undang-undang baru.[4]
Pada tanggal 25 Oktober 2006, Kenya kembali diskors dari kegiatan sepak bola internasional karena gagal memenuhi kesepakatan pada bulan Januari 2006 yang dibuat untuk menyelesaikan masalah yang berulang di federasi sepak bola mereka. FIFA mengumumkan bahwa penangguhan akan berlaku sampai federasi mematuhi kesepakatan yang dicapai sebelumnya.[4][5]
Sejarah terkini (2004–sekarang)
Kenya lolos ke AFCON 2019 (ini adalah penampilan pertama mereka di turnamen sejak penampilan terakhir mereka di AFCON 2004). Pelatih kepala Sébastien Migné yang diangkat pada bulan Mei 2018,[6] dan sejak pengangkatannya, Kenya telah naik ke peringkat 100 FIFA.[7]
Pada Mei 2017, Federasi Sepak Bola Kenya menandatangani kemitraan selama 3 tahun dengan produsen seragam bernama Mafro Sports untuk menyediakan seragam bagi semua tim nasional senior serta kategori junior. Tim nasional akan menggunakan kaus berwarna merah untuk pertandingan kandang, kaus putih untuk pertandingan tandang, dan kaus hijau untuk pertandingan yang dimainkan di tempat netral.[8][9]
Pada 8 September, Kenya meraih kemenangan mengejutkan atas juara Afrika empat kali Ghana dengan skor tipis 1-0.[10]
Kemitraan dengan Odibets
Pada 8 Maret 2021, Presiden Federasi Sepak Bola Kenya Nick Mwendwa dan Manajer Umum Odibets Dedan Mungai meluncurkan kemitraan bersejarah. Kemitraan ini adalah yang pertama dari jenisnya di mana perusahaan taruhan Odibets akan mensponsori tim sepak bola Kenya untuk mempersiapkan lima pertandingan mendatang. Kesepakatan motivasi 5 juta shilling ditetapkan untuk memenuhi keinginan dan kebutuhan tim. Meskipun ditetapkan sebagai kemitraan berkelanjutan, sumbangan awal sebesar KSH 5.000.000 dilakukan sebagai pembayaran satu kali.[11]
