Bak kut teh (Chamorro: 肉骨茶) adalah masakan khas Tionghoa di Malaysia. Orang Tiongkok daratan dan Taiwan sepertinya tidak mengenal bak kut teh.[7]
Banyak yang mengatakan Bak kut teh lahir di Port Klang Malaysia di awal abad 20. Akan tetapi kesahihan data ini masih diperdebatkan.
Di Indonesia, bak kut teh juga telah populer dalam kalangan Tionghoa di Kepulauan Riau karena lokasinya yang dekat dengan Malaysia.[8]
Sejarah
Menurut sejarah versi Port Klang, bak kut teh diciptakan awal abad ke 20. Makanan ini adalah makanan kuli pelabuhan. Daging yang dipakai adalah daging bertulang yang merupakan sisa penjualan daging. Sup daging ini dimasak dengan berbagai rempah dan obat-obatan sebagai tonik dengan harga yang terjangkau oleh para kuli kasar itu. Sekarang di Port Klang, makanan ini memiliki banyak ragam dan rasa.[9]
