Kematian

Mirzakhani didiagnosis menderita kanker payudara pada tahun 2013.[1] Empat tahun kemudian, sel kanker menyebar ke tulang sumsumnya.[2] Ia meninggal dunia pada tanggal 15 Juli 2017.[3] Ia meninggalkan suaminya, Jan Vondrák, ilmuwan komputer teori dan matematikawan terapan Ceko yang menjabat sebagai dosen pembantu di Universitas Stanford,[4] serta seorang putri bernama Anahita.[5]
