Kontroversi biografi Wikipedia, kadang disebut insiden Seigenthaler,^[1] adalah serangkaian peristiwa yang dimulai pada Mei 2005 dengan anonim mengirimkan artikel palsu di ensiklopedia daring Wikipedia tentang John Seigenthaler, seorang jurnalis Amerika Serikat. Kiriman tersebut memalsukan pernyataan bahwa Seigenthaler telah menjadi tersangka pembunuhan Presiden AS John F. Kennedy dan Jaksa Agung Robert F. Kennedy. Seigenthaler yang berusia 78 tahun, teman dan asisten Robert Kennedy, menyebut entri tentang dirinya di Wikipedia sebagai "pembunuhan karakter Internet".^[2]

Kabar palsu ini tidak ditemukan dan diperbaiki selama lebih dari empat bulan sampai Seigenthaler menulis tentang pengalamannya di USA Today. Insiden ini memunculkan pertanyaan tentang keandalan Wikipedia dan situs web lain dengan konten ciptaan pengguna yang kekurangan akuntabilitas legal dari surat kabar traidisional dan bahan media cetak.^[3] Setelah insiden ini, pendiri pendamping Jimmy Wales menyatakan bahwa ensiklopedia ini melarang pengguna tak terdaftar untuk membuat artikel baru.^[4]
