Eophyllophyton bellum adalah tumbuhan berdaun kecil tertua yang diketahui.^[1]^[2] Di tahun 2013, Hao (salah satu dari penulis takson asli) dan Xue menempatkan genus di kelas baru Eophyllophytopsida, dianggap sebagai garis keturunan terisolasi di Euphyllophytina.^[3]
