Kapal induk lapis baja adalah sebuah jenis kapal induk dengan dek penerbangan yang memiliki ketebalan diatas kapal induk biasa maupun yang ringan.
Pelindung di dek penerbangan berguna untuk melindungi hangar beserta pesawat-pesawat yang berada di dalamnya dari serangan bom, bahkan sampai bom seberat 1000 pon. Lambat laun, pelindung ini berguna untuk melindungi arsenal senjata, magazine, dan tanki bensin; Serta dari serangan kimiawi.
