Michael James Benton FRS FRSE[3][4] (lahir 8 April 1956)[1] adalah seorang palaentolog Inggris, dan profesor paleontologi vertebrata dalam Jurusan Ilmu Bumi di Universitas Bristol.[5][6][7] Karya terbitannya kebanyakan terkonsentrasi pada evolusi para reptil Trias selain ia juga meneliti soal peristiwa kepunahan dan perubahan faunal dalam catatan fosil.[2][8][9]
