SANITARIAN KIT

The Sanitarian Kit is a collection of tools that aims to carry out inspection activities related to hygiene (sanitation) and the environmental health of the surrounding community.

Sanitation is a deliberate habit of cultivating clean living with the intention of preventing humans from direct contact with dirt and other hazardous waste in the hope that this effort will maintain and improve human health.

Sanitation and hygiene cannot be separated from one another because closely related. For example, hygiene is good because you want to wash your hands; however sanitation is not supportive because there is not enough clean water available, so washing imperfect hands.

Sanitation and Hygiene are important things in determine the quality of food where Escherichia coli as an indicator the occurrence of food contamination which can cause consequential diseases food (food borne diseases). E. coli in food and drink is an indicator of contamination due to handling of food and beverages not good. Lack of knowledge of food vendors about how to managing food and drink that is healthy and safe, increases the risk contamination of the food and beverages it sells.

These hazards may occur in physical, microbiological and chemical or biological agents of the disease. Waste materials that can cause health problems consist of human or animal feces, solid waste materials, domestic wastewater (washing, urine, and bath or laundry waste), industrial and agricultural waste materials. Preventive cleanliness can be done by using technical solutions (for example, care of laundry and wastewater), simple technology (for example, latrines, septic tanks), or personal hygiene practices (for example, washing hands with soap).

The definition of sanitation from the World Health Organization (WHO) is as follows: "Sanitation generally refers to the provision of facilities and services for disposing of human waste such as urine and feces. The term 'sanitation' also refers to the maintenance of hygienic conditions through waste management efforts. And wastewater treatment.

Sanitation includes four technological infrastructures (although often only the first which is closely related to the term 'sanitation'): Human waste management (feces), wastewater management systems (including wastewater treatment plants), waste management systems, drainage systems or the so-called also with the management of rainwater runoff.

There are slightly different definitions used today. For example, for some organizations, hygiene promotion is considered an integral part of sanitation. Thus, the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council defines sanitation as: "the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal or reuse of waste. Human waste (feces), liquid waste and household waste and also related to hygiene promotion.

Despite the fact that wastewater treatment is also part of sanitation, these two terms are often written side by side as "sanitation and wastewater management". The term sanitation has been associated with various descriptions so that the terms sustainable sanitation, improved sanitation, unimproved sanitation, environmental sanitation (on-site sanitation), ecological sanitation (ecological sanitation), sanitation (dry toilet) (dry sanitation) is widely used today. Sanitation should always be linked to a systems approach, where sanitation consists of storage / collection, transportation, processing, disposal or reuse.

Another definition of sanitation is all efforts made to ensure the realization of conditions that meet health requirements. While several other definitions focus on breaking the germ chain from its source of transmission and environmental control.
