Starting his career as an International IDEA researcher, 2004 — a non-profit organization based in Sweden — Zaenal was heavily involved in the study of policy and democratic development in many countries, especially Asia. He also worked at the Presidential Office in Jakarta as a Political Analyst and Speech Writer, 2009-2014. Another experience, being an observer at the G-20 Summit, Russia, 2013, and the Rio + 20 Summit, Brazil, 2012. Zaenal is also often invited as a guest speaker on television and has some columns in print and online media. Zaenal is currently Executive Director at DCSC.
