'Slogan digunakan dalam heraldik Skotlandia sebagai semboyan atau semboyan sekunder. Lazimnya slogan ditampilkan di atas jambul dalam gambar lambang kebesaran, tetapi adakalanya slogan ditampilkan sebagai semboyan sekunder di bawah perisai.[1]
Semboyan dan heraldik
Kata "slogan" mulai digunakan sejak tahun 1513, sebagai salah satu variasi dari istilah "slogorn" yang lebih tua, yakni bentuk Anglisasi dari kata [[bahasa Gaelik Skotlandia|Gaelik Skotlandia, sluagh-ghairm, yang berarti pekik perang (sluagh berarti "bala tentara", dan gairm berarti "pekik").[2] Slogan digunakan dalam heraldik, teristimewa dalam heraldik Skotlandia. Dalam heraldik Skotlandia, slogan digunakan sebagai semboyan atau semboyan sekunder. Lazimnya slogan ditampilkan di atas jambul dalam gambar lambang kebesaran, tetapi adakalanya ditampilkan sebagai semboyan sekunder di bawah perisai. Slogan mungkin berasal dari pekik perang atau pekik perjuangan. Ada sejumlah semboyan heraldik yang diduga berasal dari pekik perang, misalnya semboyan Dieu et mon droit ("Tuhan dan kewenanganku") pada Lambang Kebesaran Kerajaan Inggris Raya, demikian pula semboyan Montjoie Saint Denis pada bekas Lambang Kebesaran Negara Prancis.
