Kereta api Sancaka adalah kereta api dengan layanan kelas Eksekutif dan Bisnis yang melayani rute antara Surabaya Gubeng-Yogyakarta. Perjalanan sejauh 311 kilometer ini ditempuh dalam waktu kurang dari 6 jam. Nama Sancaka diambil dari nama sosok ular naga yang pengayom dan dapat bertahan di segala keadaan.

Kereta api Sancaka menggunakan dua rangkaian dari dua dipo kereta yang berbeda. Kereta yang berangkat pada pagi hari dari Yogyakarta dan pada sore hari dari Surabaya menggunakan rangkaian milik dipo kereta Yogyakarta (YK) (KA 85/84), sedangkan kereta yang berangkat pada pagi hari dari Surabaya dan pada sore hari dari Yogyakarta menggunakan rangkaian milik dipo kereta Sidotopo (SDT) (KA 83/86). Meskipun berbeda dipo, tetapi fasilitas yang disediakan tidak dibedakan antara rangkaian yang satu dengan rangkaian lainnya, semuanya disesuaikan dengan standar pelayanan kereta api kelas Eksekutif dan Bisnis. Seluruh rangkaian kini telah dilengkapi fasilitas pendingin ruangan.

Hal yang mungkin tampak berbeda adalah pada penggunaan kereta makan. Pada rangkaian milik dipo kereta Sidotopo, dapat ditemukan kereta makan kelas 1 (M1), sedangkan pada rangkaian milik dipo kereta Yogyakarta, kereta makan menggunakan kereta makan pembangkit (MP1/MP2)

Rangkaian

Tersedia dua jenis rangkaian Sancaka, yang dimiliki oleh dipo lokomotif Sidotopo dan dipo lokomotif Yogyakarta. Kedua-duanya terdiri atas sebuah lokomotif, sebuah kereta pembangkit (P), lima kereta eksekutif (K1), tiga kereta bisnis AC (K2), dan sebuah gerbong bagasi (B). Khusus untuk rangkaian milik Sidotopo menggunakan kereta makan (M1) dengan motif batik, sedangkan rangkaian milik Jogja menggunakan kereta makan dan pembangkit (MP2 atau KMP2). Lokomotif yang diandalkannya adalah CC201, CC203, CC204, dan CC206.

Dengan harga tiket untuk bisnis seharga Rp 115.000-160.000,00 dan eksekutif seharga Rp165.000-220.000,00, perjalanan dengan Sancaka terutama melewati kawasan percandian di Prambanan, Sleman dan membelah Kota Solo dan Kota Madiun.
