Kereta api Mutiara Selatan merupakan kereta api penumpang kelas eksekutif dan ekonomi premium yang dioperasikan oleh PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daerah Operasi I Jakarta dengan melayani lintas Gambir-Surabaya Gubeng-Malang melalui Bandung-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap dan sebaliknya.

Sejarah

Kereta api ini dioperasikan pertama kali pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1972 yang terdiri dari dua layanan kelas, yaitu kelas eksekutif dan bisnis—bersama dengan kereta api Turangga yang juga memiliki layanan kelas bisnis dan eksekutif. Kemudian layanan kereta api Mutiara Selatan diubah menjadi kelas bisnis secara penuh, sedangkan layanan kereta api Turangga diubah menjadi kelas eksekutif secara penuh.

Pada tanggal 28 September 2016, rangkaian kereta api ini diganti dengan kereta ekonomi plus buatan tahun 2016 dan lintasannya diperpanjang hingga Malang mulai tanggal 3 Oktober 2016. Namun, kereta api ini menggunakan rangkaian kereta kelas bisnis kembali karena adanya masalah kenyamanan penumpang.

Mulai tanggal 13 Maret 2017, layanan kereta api ini kembali diubah menjadi kelas eksekutif dan bisnis—seperti pada masa awal operasionalnya pada tahun 1972—kemudian kereta api ini menggunakan kereta terbaru berbahan baja nirkarat keluaran tahun 2018 dan 2019 mulai tanggal 1 April 2019.

Dengan dikeluarkannya grafik perjalanan kereta api terbaru oleh Direktorat Jenderal Perkeretaapian dan PT KAI per 1 Desember 2019, kereta api Mutiara Selatan resmi diperpanjang ke Stasiun Gambir melalui jalur kereta api Cikampek–Padalarang dan pemeliharaan sarananya dialihkan ke Dipo Kereta Jakarta Kota.[1]

Tarif

Tarif kereta api ini adalah antara Rp220.000,00-Rp650.000,00 untuk kelas eksekutif dan Rp100.000,00-Rp400.000,00 untuk kelas ekonomi premium tergantung pada jarak tempuh, subkelas/posisi tempat duduk dalam rangkaian kereta, serta hari-hari tertentu seperti akhir pekan dan libur nasional.

Berlaku tarif parsial yang dapat dipesan mulai tiga puluh hari sebelum keberangkatan (H-30) :

  • Jakarta - Bandung maupun sebaliknya: Rp150.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp110.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Surabaya - Malang maupun sebaliknya: Rp60.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp40.000,00 (ekonomi premium)

Selain itu, terdapat tarif khusus yang berlaku dua jam sebelum keberangkatan :

  • Bandung - Banjar maupun sebaliknya: Rp90.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp70.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Bandung - Tasikmalaya maupun sebaliknya: Rp80.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp60.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Solo - Yogyakarta maupun sebaliknya: Rp55.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp40.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Madiun - Jombang / Solo maupun sebaliknya: Rp70.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp40.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Madiun - Yogyakarta / Surabaya maupun sebaliknya: Rp100.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp70.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Yogyakarta - Surabaya maupun sebaliknya: Rp230.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp110.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
  • Yogyakarta - Malang maupun sebaliknya: Rp285.000,00 (eksekutif) dan Rp135.000,00 (ekonomi premium)
